The goal of the University of Redlands’ New Student Orientation is to welcome new students and their families, and to begin the process of integrating new students into the University’s intellectual, cultural, social and personal opportunities.
The preliminary NSO Schedule is now available!
New Student Orientation will help you:
Orientation programs are important and many are mandatory. You should come prepared to fully participate in all scheduled events.
All new students are required to check in at New Student Orientation Registration in the Hunsaker University Center lobby between 8 am and Noon on Wednesday, August 29, 2018.
Once you complete Orientation Registration, you can proceed to your residence hall and begin to move in if you are living on campus.
In your deposit confirmation letter, you will receive your "user ID and password." You should visit my.Redlands.edu and log in to verify your status and monitor your progress on clearing the mandatory forms. Remember to frequently check your University email and your my.Redlands account to see which outstanding items (e.g., bill, immunizations, loan documents, etc.) still need to be completed.
Starting in mid-August, new students can access the "online check-in" site, which informs the University a student is attending. You must complete the online check-in process by the end of your first week of classes.
First Year Seminar Class
One of your most important classes in your first year starts during Orientation: The First Year Seminar (FYS). Mandatory for all Freshmen, it allows you the chance to meet other first-year students with similar academic interests and become acclimated slowly, with the help of one professor, to the academic environment. Your FYS professor also serves as your academic advisor and will assist you with class registration during New Student Orientation. Your FYS also has a Peer Advisor, a knowledgeable upper-class student, who is trained to answer your questions and help your academic planning throughout your first semester.
Parents and Families
The University welcomes parents, guardians, and families of our first year students! We are pleased that your student decided to join the Bulldog family.
There is a day-and-a-half program during New Student Orientation designed to introduce you to resources available for your student, provide information about how resources work, and offer an opportunity to ask questions.
